Plantation Drives under the project for community based forest management and livelihood improvement in Meghalaya (MegLIFE) On the occasion of World Environment Day, the MegLIFE project is proud to mark this global event through meaningful, community-driven action.

At a landmark event held in Dobakol Awemong, South Garo Hills, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K. Sangma, inaugurated a newly constructed Community Hall — and virtually inaugurated 124 additional halls across the Garo Hills region.

The ceremony was attended by  MLAs, MDCs, government officials, Village Project Implementation Committees (VPICs), and hundreds of community members.

Day1 kicked off in Shillong with Hon'ble Governor C.H. Vijayashankar inaugurating the conference! His keynote highlighted the urgent need to protect indigenous flora, boost community forest management, and tackle climate change. Experts from 12 Indian states, Kenya, JICA Kenya, and global institutions came together to explore innovative solutions in springshed management, agroforestry, and AI-driven forest conservation. The collaborative energy was inspiring as Day 1 set the tone for transformative action toward a greener future!
